Preamble:

It is now globally recognized that the traditional system of Yoga evolved in India ages ago by the illumined Rishis like Patanjali is not only a way to spiritual illumination but also a way for health, happiness and harmony. It was Swami Vivekananda who pioneered the spread of yoga in the Western world and scientifically demonstrated the benefits of yoga for wellbeing in general as well as higher illumination. By combining the ancient Eastern yogic principles with the modern Western scientific rationality, Swami Vivekananda created a new paradigm acceptable to the peoples of the modern age in all parts of the world. Modern researches have proved that yoga has great potential to play a Vital role in preventive, prophylactic and therapeutic aspects of many a life style related disease like hypertension, diabetes, etc., as well as in various psychological and psycho-somatic illnesses. The importance of yoga in quelling the common symptoms in the present age of hurry, unrest, disharmony, intolerance and violent temper are being increasingly felt and recognized the entire world over.
