Admission to One-year Post-graduate Diploma Programme in Astrophysiology

Applications are invited for admission to One-year Post-graduate Diploma Programme in Astrophysiology for the academic session 2026-2027 starting July 2026.

About the programme

With the rapid growth of India’s space research ecosystem and emerging interest in human spaceflight, there is a critical need for academic training in Space Physiology and Analogue Mission Operations. This programme integrates space biology, human physiology under altered gravity, and analogue astronaut simulation training—preparing graduates for interdisciplinary research, mission design, and biomedical applications in space and extreme environments. This is the first-of-its-kind postgraduate programme in India aimed at developing human resources for space life sciences, space medicine, and planetary analogue operations aligned with ISRO’s Gaganyaan and future Bharatiya Antariksha Station (BAS), or other astronaut-oriented initiatives.

Duration

One year consists of 2 semesters and covers 40 credits (As per UGC guidelines)

Teaching Mode

Hybrid (blending online and offline). Offline classes (mostly practicals) will be held at the RKMVERI Belur Math campus. Online classes will held on weekdays.
