Two-day Yoga Camp at Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi – 10-11 February 2024

The Dept. of Sports Science & Yoga, RKMVERI (Deemed University) conducted 2-day Yoga camp at IIM Ranchi on 10th & 11th February 2024.

Preamble

Yoga is an ancient body of wisdom which was discovered more than four thousand years ago in India. Yoga has its roots in various streams of Indian Philosophy and was perfectly delineated, formulated, and preached in India.  Swami Vivekananda said “Man wants truth, wants to experience truth for himself”. According to him “Yoga is the science which teaches us how to get the experiences (of the truth)” and “(Yoga is) a practical and scientifically worked out method of reaching this truth”. Thus Swamiji has declared Yoga to be both practical and scientific rather than something incomprehensible and mysterious. He said, “Anything that is secret and mysterious in these systems of Yoga should be at once rejected. Mystery-mongering weakens the human brain”. Yoga is a holistic system of practices which brings about harmonious development of the body, mind, intellect and the spiritual dimensions of human personality. Integral personality development was one of the important visions of Swami Vivekananda, as it is evident from his words: “What we want is to see the man who is harmoniously developed …great in heart, great in mind and great in deed”.
