ISSEM (Indian Society of Sports and Exercise Medicine ) is a national-level registered society which includes all the professionals in the field of Sports-Exercise Medicine & Sciences, and related allied fields recognizing the multi and interdisciplinary nature of Sports.

Department of Physiology, Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) organised the 2nd International Conference, ISSEMCON- 2024, under the aegis of ISSEM on 15-16 Nov,2024 with the theme: “Physiological Medicine: Fitness, Lifestyle and Performance Medicine”.

Research scholars from the Department of Sports Science and Yoga participated in the Oral Presentation Competition.

Sanjoy Majhi was awarded the Winner under Medical and Health Sciences category for presenting on the topic- “Posture- specific acute cardiorespiratory and metabolic demands of fast and slow suryanamaskar practice”. He provided his insights on  the cardiorespiratory and respiratory responses elicited by each suryanamaskar posture and the impact of fast and slow paces of suryanamaskar.

Chayan Kundu was awarded the Winner under Physical Therapy & Allied Health Sciences category for presenting on the topic ” Immediate Effect of Simulated Microgravity Exposure on Cardiac Autonomic Functions of Healthy Adults”.He provided his insights on changes in cardiac autonomic functions  when space like conditions of zero gravity are mimicked on earth.
